What I wore yesterday

19 Nov

  • Maxi Dress:  Calvin Klein, TJ Maxx
  • Tank top:  Target
  • Shoes:  Impo Weber, DSW
  • Belt:  F21
  • Necklace:  Rod Works
  • Bracelet, Earrings:  Kohl’s

Yes, I am fully aware that this new dress of mine violates virtually every rule ever written for short pear-shaped women, such as myself.

First of all,  there’s the obvious – it’s a maxi dress.  Rumor has it, maxi dresses overwhelm shorties and make us look even stumpier than we already are.

Secondly, it’s a horizontal stripe print, not only drawing attention to, but even exaggerating the look of my already ample hips.    What crazy person does that?

Third, it’s knit, which tends to hug and cling to every bulge on my body.  Curvy women are strongly advised to stick with structured clothing that flatters our shape.

Yeah, I get it.

But do you know what?

I don’t care.

You look wonderful. Tall and sleek; those rules are clearly not meant for you!

It looks great despite the fact that you are a rogue rule breaker!
I was just thinking about how I hadn’t seen a post from you in awhile. Glad to see you back!

I really love this striped maxi dress, it looks wonderful! And I love that you wrote you don’t care about all these “forbidden” (who has made these stupid rules???) things, I’m lucky that I’m quite tall, but my mum is very small and she used to dress after these rules (and is still). I think the only rule should be: feel great in what you wear and then you’ll automatically look also great!

I love a good maxi dress, and frankly when you live in a climate like you do, they seem very appropriate to wear. Love it on you! (And love the blogger necklace, LOL.)

I love knit dresses. For a moment there I thought it was a bandage dress, but it’s a beautiful maxi. TJ Maxx sounds awesome, though there isn’t one around me. But saving money is always good, I’ve had a similar looking dress but it was a bandage. Got it from http://pearlposh.com for a steal.
